WHAT'S NEW
#‎DeLaSoul‬ set off their “Stakes Is High” album asking the question, “Where were you when you first heard ‪#‎CriminalMinded‬?”. “Criminal Minded” was the prototype for ‪#‎EastCoast‬ ‪#‎GangsterRap‬. The seminal album included the songs, “Bridge Is Over” and “South Bronx” which ignited the infamous rivalry with the ‪#‎Queensbridge‬ Super Squad, The Juice Crew. Inspired by all things Hip Hop, ‪#‎DStroy‬ and ‪#‎QUnique‬ of The Arsonists fame stepped into the booth to create “Born In ‘87”, a tribute to this ‪#‎BBoy‬ Records classic. This is not part of a bigger project or available for sale. This is for the fans of ‪#‎hiphop‬. Your likes and shares raise awareness to those the came before us. Thank you

The Arsonists

Available for the first time on limited edition orange 7" vinyl.
"The Session" catapulted The Arsonists to one of the pillars of the then new bubbling indy scene that was coming out of New York in the early to mid 90’s. With heavy play on the famed Stretch Armstrong show (hosted by Bobbito – who initially released the song on his legendary Fondle ‘Em Records) the song stood out showcasing the charismatic MC’s over an infectious jazzy bassline. Part Leaders of the New School, part Native Tongues , “The Session” was a special blend of originality that was lacking in the climate of Hip Hop at the time of its release.
For the B Side with “Halloween The Arsonists take things conceptually pointing out the many “masks” people wear stating that “every day’s like Halloween/nothing’s what it seems” over an equally powerful piano laced beat. The single overall was a breath of fresh air and gave Hip Hop fans a taste of what was lacking – and an idea of great things to come from The Arsonists.

ARSONISTS 2nd Release "Date Of Birth" Available on iTunes
On the sophomore release from this Brooklyn underground trio (surfacing here as Jise, Q-Unique, and Swel 79), the Arsonists continue to swim away from the mainstream, not in a calculated manner as some backpackers do to try to make a name, but because for these self-proclaimed hip-hop pyromaniacs, this is the only way to make their music. As a result, many hip-hop luminaries have taken notice, including the legendary Chuck D, who at one time quipped: "When you see a group like the Arsonists out there, they're better than what any major label has got." Living by KRS-One's immortal credo — "Rap is something you do, hip-hop is something you live" — the Arsonists set fire to many a microphone and drum machine on Date of Birth. Again sticking to their largely in-house production protocol (though the Beatnuts' Psycho Les drops a burner on "Self Righteous Spics"), flaming arrows are fired on the rollicking "Space Junk" and the classical piano-infused "Alive." But these are mere warm-up acts for two of the more memorable underground tracks in recent memory: the hilariously sharp "Millionaire," a slick, hip-hop parody of Regis Philbin's Who Wants to Be a Millionaire game show, and "Language Arts," a blazing combination of kabuki theater strings and Akira Kurosawa film aesthetic. While the album lapses occasionally with a couple of patches of redundant production, Date of Birth is a strong follow-up from a crew who keep it real by nature.
